Watch this huge NASCAR crash involving 21 cars at Daytona 500

No wonder it's being called "The Big One"

CRASHES may be part and parcel of NASCAR racing but it’s rare to see pile-ups as big as this one.

Just nine laps before the end of the 2019 Daytona 500 a huge crash was triggered when fourth-placed Matt DiBenedotto lost control of his Leavine Family Racing Toyota Camry at turn three. The ensuing chaos involved a further 20 cars and forced the race to be red-flagged.

Though no-one was injured, 10 drivers (including DiBenedotto) were forced to retire from the race due to the damage to their cars.

Though not as spectacular as the 21-car crash, an honourable mention also goes to an earlier shunt, which caught up six cars as they made their way into the Daytona Speedway’s pit lane with 41 laps of the race to go.
