Lexus racing car catches fire at Goodwood Festival of Speed

THINGS PROPERLY hotted up at the Goodwood Festival of Speed recently, after a Lexus racing car suddenly went up in flames at the motoring event.

Caught on camera by an attendant in the grandstands, the blaze occurred as a Lexus RC-F GT3 was returning to the racing car paddock after a run up Goodwood’s hillclimb course.

It’s unknown currently what caused the Lexus to combust, though the fact the flames appear to originate in a big pool underneath the car strongly suggests a pretty large fuel leak was a main cause.

Thankfully driver Scott Pruett managed to escape the vehicle before the fire began to grow considerably. The on-site marshals were able to extinguish the flames but not before substantial damage was done.
