Will Young could be banned from driving after crash with parked car

Man had to jump to safety

Pop star Will Young faces a road ban after admitting careless driving.

The British singer-songwriter, 39, who found fame after winning the inaugural series of TV talent show Pop Idol, in 2002, hit a parked car on the A68 in Scotland, forcing a man to jump to safety.

Young admitted entering the lay-by near Earlston in error at excessive speed and smashing into the parked vehicle on January 21.

Young pleaded guilty by letter at Selkirk Sheriff Court. His sentence was deferred until next month.

Selkirk Sheriff Peter Paterson said: “There are live points on his licence and there is a risk of disqualification here so sentence will be deferred for a personal appearance.”
