A SPANISH luxury fashion brand has been subjected to ridicule after its latest, £1,795 black skirt was compared to rubber floor mats that can be bought as a set for as little as £30.
Balenciaga describes its skirt as a structured “car design skirt” and retailers claim that it “transforms the functional into the formal.”
It is made from leather, but with a sheen finish and embossed pattern it has the look of a car’s rubber floor mat.
Across social media, people have been quick to draw comparisons with the humble car floor mat. One user offered women that crave the costly designer item his car’s floor mats. Others suggested it wouldn’t look like a car mat if Rhianna was to wear it.
