THE BENTLEY Bentayga is the British luxury car maker’s first foray into SUV territory. Its looks, and indeed its existence, are likely to divide opinion, but it is undeniably an important car for Bentley as its rivals Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini prepare to launch their own 4x4s.
Bentley says the Bentayga, designed, engineered and built in Crewe, combines “unparalleled luxury with sporting ability, off-road performance and everyday usability”. The launch version will be powered by a W12 petrol engine that Bentley says will make it “the most powerful and fastest SUV ever”.
The Bentayga will make its full public debut at next week’s Frankfurt motor show, with customer deliveries starting in early 2016. Diesel, plug-in hybrid and seven-seat variants are expected in due course.
