You can buy Jeremy Clarkson's Volkswagen Golf GTI

Of course, this one has the power-boosting Performance Pack

DESPITE describing it as “the world’s best hot hatch“, Jeremy Clarkson has decided it’s time to part ways with his personal Volkswagen Golf GTI.

A surprisingly subtle entry in Jezza’s long and varied car history, the Golf GTI seen here was bought brand new by the The Grand Tour presenter in 2015 and used as his personal everyday runabout.

Clarkson claims “all the extras” were fitted to his GTI, including a DSG semi-automatic transmission and the Performance Pack, which added beefier brakes, a limited slip differential and gave the GTI’s 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine a smidgen more powerrrr, courtesy of a 10bhp boost to 227bhp.

The car comes in the five-door (rather than three) bodystyle, which he says was due to an error he made after inadvertently ticking the wrong options box.

With just 23,200 miles on the clock, Clarkson’s Volkswagen Golf GTI has a fairly low mileage for a three-year-old daily driver. That is perhaps down to him driving one or two other cars for the Sunday Times over the last few years, instead of his own car.

It also appears that Clarkson has taken very good care of his sporty Golf too, which probably goes some way to explaining why he’s asking £21,500 for the car.
