THE SUPER-RICH have only just begun to take delivery of their new LaFerraris and McLaren P1s. Now they face a new decision: should I buy the track version?

McLaren has written to the 375 buyers of its P1 hypercar — who include Jenson Button — asking if they would be interested in a more extreme, track-only version, likely to have more power and more sophisticated aerodynamics.

Ferrari, meanwhile, has confirmed it is working on a higher-performance version of the LaFerrari (tested by James May this week), due to go on sale early next year. Power output would be similar to that of the production car, but elements such as the aerodynamics and suspension would be changed.
