IT’S OFFICIAL: Chris Evans will front a rebooted Top Gear, stepping into the almighty shoes of Jeremy Clarkson. Evans seems an an inspired choice — he’s one of the world’s best-known car enthusiasts, after all — but is that enough, or does being Top Gear’s lead presenter require more than just a keen interest in cars?
Funnily enough, there’s a fairly simple way of comparing the styles of Clarkson and Evans: the former writes car reviews for The Sunday Times while the latter has a motoring column for the Daily Mail. What’s more, they reviewed the same car last weekend: the Seat Leon X-Perience.
And now we want you to tell us: who wins the battle of the reviews, Clarkson or Evans? Read both articles by clicking on the buttons below, then give us your answer in the form at the bottom of the page. We’ll publish the result later this week.
‘It was brown. Seat tries to jazz this up by saying it’s actually Adventure Brown, but there’s no such thing. Adventure colours are purple and lime green. You never see a brown Hobie Cat or a brown jet ski or a woman in brown underwear. Unless she’s, like, 90’
‘What we have here is simply a car, as basic as can be, a workhorse fashioned from a vaguely modern-looking lump of metal on four vaguely modern-looking wheels that serves a vaguely modern purpose’
