Two truck drivers killed in East Java bridge collapse

A SECTION of a bridge connecting Babat Lamongan and Widang Tuban in East Java collapsed into the Bengawan Solo River on Tuesday, April 17, causing a number of vehicles to plunge into the water.

A video posted to Facebook shows the aftermath, with trucks visible in the water. According to a local news report, two truck drivers died in the incident.

The bridge collapsed at around 11am Western Indonesian Time (WIB). Vehicles reported to have dropped into the river include a dump truck, a motorcycle and two small HGVs, known locally as “Truk Tronton”).
