MCDONALDS, BURGER KING and KFC may have their critics but according to a new survey of favourite imports, Brits prefer them to every car maker but Audi.

The German brand, which once endeared itself to the British public by advertising itself as the less pushy alternative to another Teutonic car maker, occupies 20th spot in the survey by food importer Santa Maria.

Apparently, Brits prefer it to those high-street staples Starbucks and Nandos, the Aussie chanteuse Kylie Minogue and kitchen gadget, the George Foreman grill.

Meanwhile, those brands and products that Brits favour over the car maker include Ikea, Disney and Chinese food.

Audi’s success comes despite it achieving just 12th place in this year’s JD Power survey of customer satisfaction behind fellow German brands Volkswagen (5) and Mercedes-Benz (3). Lexus came top.
