Video: Honda NSX concept takes to the track, Gran Turismo style
With the latest version of the Honda NSX concept making its European debut this week at the 2013 Geneva motor show, a new video has just popped up on YouTube showing the hybrid supercar on track. At least, in virtual form.
The video was created within the Gran Turismo racing simulation game as a tease for the car and follows a similar video from around the time of the Detroit motor show in January.
The new NSX is powered by Honda’s Sport Hybrid SH-AWD, which features a mid-mounted V6 petrol engine mated to three electric motors – one linked to the engine at the rear and two up front, driving the front wheels.
The virtual nature of the film allows us to see clearly what goes on beneath the skin of the car as it blasts through corners, with drive being applied to the outside front wheel, which would effectively do the job of reducing understeer.
Until it's possible to drive the car in a simulation, gamers will have to content themselves with clearing a space for it in their virtual garage. Perhaps that other Honda hybrid, the Insight, could make way for it but you'll have to wait to upgrade for real – the new NSX was expected to go on sale in 2014 but is now understood to be at least two years off production.
