The incident took place in rural West Sussex. An online video shows the lorry overtaking a car on a narrow road, driving straight over a mini-roundabout and then barrelling towards oncoming traffic on the wrong side of the road. Miraculously, no one was hurt.

The video was taken by a member of Britain’s growing army of dashcam users and shown in court last week.

The lorry driver, Stephen Weller, 52, of Felbridge, West Sussex, admitted dangerous driving. He will be sentenced next month and faces a maximum two-year prison term, unlimited fine and disqualification. Crawley magistrates’ court heard that the lorry driver had lost his job and had also been the victim of a hate campaign.
