OFFICIAL pictures of the new, 2016 Mercedes E-class have been leaked online — ahead of the car’s public unveiling at next week’s Detroit motor show.

The German car maker had been hoping to ensure the upmarket saloon car remained a closely guarded secret, but photographs of the advanced model, which is claimed to bring the self-driving car a step closer to reality, were published by a German motoring website.
Driving had reported on the new model’s advances toward autonomous driving, after Mercedes released a sketch and video of the new model in an attempt to drum up anticipation levels. Now, British drivers can see the E-class in the metal and compare its aesthetic appeal with rival models, including the Audi A6, BMW 5-series, Jaguar XF and new Volvo S90.
Unsurprisingly, the car’s styling bears a close family resemblance to the C- and S-class saloons. Details concerning the engine range, technical specification and pricing in the UK are still to be revealed.
