Our Fleet ADI Training Course

The course will take place over three days.  It is for ADIs wanting to move into the corporate fleet training market. Thames Training & Development Ltd are DSA accredited and those successfully completing the course will be eligible for entry onto their Fleet Register. Courses are available nationally. This course will guide you through the topics necessary for you to be competent in working with companies and their drivers.

Course Content

The course includes elements of both classroom and in car training; there will be study for you to complete before attending and during the course.  As this is a comprehensive course it requires commitment from you to complete a busy schedule.

The course is designed to prepare you to work in the corporate world of driver training. You will learn about the fleet market and how you see yourself fitting into it, how to present yourself and your product and how to assess coach and give feedback to qualified drivers. In addition to this the course will also cover key areas including, meeting clients, selling the benefits of your programme, checking licences, conducting vehicle safety checks, delivering short in car presentations, developing your commentary and demonstration driving techniques.

Vocational Relevance

If you intend to work for a fleet training company they may require that you have a fleet badge. It is not essential to be on the register of fleet trainers to work with qualified drivers, but you must display your “green” ADI licence badge.  Holders of a fleet training licence are required to present a qualified driver when being check tested by the DSA.

Pre-course study

Prior to attending the course you will be required to complete some home study. We will provide you with information about the course, a recommended reading list along with some useful websites for online research. There will be a theory paper for you to complete consisting of multiple choice questions and written answers which will be discussed during the course.

A good knowledge of the Highway Code and the Police Drivers’ Handbook “Roadcraft” is essential,  This will be assessed and developed throughout the course.

Qualification

Successful candidates will pass the Fleet Trainers qualification and are eligible to apply for entry onto the DSA Register of Fleet Trainers. Application has to be made, by the candidate, to the DSA within 12 months of the date of issue of the certificate.
