Speeding Celebrities
Clarissa Dickson Wright, celebrity `Fat Lady' was fined £200 for driving at 95mph on a road with a 70 mph limit.

John Gregory, Aston Villa Football Club Manager received a six month driving ban and a £400 fine with £75 costs for driving at 80 mph on a road with a 50 mph limit. In August 2000 he received a 28 day ban and a £450 fine for driving at 112 mph on the motorway.

Geri Halliwell, former Spice Girl received a 42 day driving ban and a £400 fine for driving at 60 mph on a road with a 30 mph limit.

Chris Evans, millionaire radio and television presenter received a 56 day driving ban and a £600 fine for driving his Ferrari at 105 mph on the A3 dual carriageway (70 mph limit).

Former Shadow Home Secretary Ann Widdecombe made the news in September 2000 when she admitted to being caught by a speed camera driving at 40 mph on a road with a 30 mph limit. She received three peanlty points on her licence and was fined £40.

Court in the Act
Former senior magistrate Mick Morden described speeding as `a victimless crime'. Suspended for three years from the bench after twenty five years service following admission of two speeding offences, Morden stated that these were `no more serious than receiving a red telephone bill'.
