Radar Trap

Enemy Radar
Two members of the Lothian and Borders traffic police were recently on the Scottish moors, trapping speeding motorists with a radar gun. Suddenly their equipment registered a speed of over 300 miles per hour. It then locked up completely.

Seconds later the startled officers understood why, as a low flying Harrier Jet screamed over their heads. Annoyed that the gun was broken the police put in a complaint to the Royal Air Force, only to discover that the damage could easily have been much worse.

The RAF informed them that the Harrier’s target seeker had locked on to what it had interpreted as enemy radar. This immediately triggered an automatic air-so-surface missile attack. Fortunately for the two police officers, the Harrier was operating unarmed.

Pedal Power
Dorset police making speed checks assumed that their gun was faulty when they detected Gareth Hunter, a 58 year old cyclist riding at 63 mph on a road with a 60 mph limit. Gareth, who was riding a rare £1,500 bike imported from California said he couldn't resist `going for it' when he came over the brow of a hill where he was clocked. He was given a verbal warning.
